And so it begins...

We got our first 2 inches of snow this last night and this morning. I got up at 0430 and we already had a good coating on the ground and it was coming down good. Our dogs seemed to love it...they were all fired up this morning running and playing in the snow. The first snow is always so pretty! I took the new pickup to work this morning to see what she could do. Granted, it is only 2 inches, but I couldn't resist playing! Nothing happened... =-(

Elk season starts tomorrow and I am sure the hunters are liking the new snow. As long as they can get up to camp! I am hopeful for them. They leave today to head up to camp and get ready for the big day tomorrow.

Sorry no pictures to show of our first snow since the camera is headed up to elk camp...

P.S. found out half dog is not past the bed chewing stage...hhmmm.

We survived!

Our trip to Missoula/Helena went great. We left home on Friday and came back Tuesday. The weather held out for the most part. It spit some snow on McDonald Pass, but it didn't stick. We had a great time visiting friends and family. Since the drive was quite long, we were able to become familiar with our new pickup. Learn some things about how to operate all the fancy equipment...it is by far smarter than I am! I have some pictures from our trip to share...some are from the freeway as we drove and others are from Old Fort Missoula (where the wedding was) and the DeVoto cedar grove along the way. Enjoy! =-)

Bored

Yesterday I got a phone call from my husband asking if I would like to go look at a pickup. We'd been talking about buying a new pickup vs. an old pickup for quite some time (since last winter). Apparently the idea of being stranded in 3 feet of snow again this winter wasn't appealing to either one of us. However, I also know how we operate. We don't 'look' we 'buy.' Interestingly enough, my mother commented on this phenomenon a week or so ago.

Long story short, we went and looked and bought.

Long story--It was actually a 'fun' experience. We actually bought two pickups (figured we were on a role, so why not!?). Just kidding! The first pickup we agreed to buy turned out to be a 2010...minor oversight on the dealership's part. However, it allowed us to get the pickup color we (I) really wanted...silver...for a better deal than we were able to get earlier in the negotiations.

Best part is--now I don't have to clean out our blue pickup to take to Missoula this weekend. We're taking the new one. =-)

Enjoy the sunshine...more rain is coming!

Photos around the place

We got about 0.4 of rain today so far. And the wind is blowing...great night to be inside!

Here are a few photos I took yesterday. The weather warmed up a bit, so the dogs and I went for a walk in the back 40. I found lots of interesting things to take photos of...and some not so interesting! Things are starting to look like fall...

Hope you enjoyed the photos...

Columbus

Today is Columbus Day...the day the federal government celebrates a man who couldn't read a map. Or well, at least that is my interpretation. I am sure he did some other 'great' things too. I have the day off, so I thought I would try to get my blog up and running. I would like to thank my sister for motivating me...also, if this fails, I would also like to thank her. No pressure! =-)

I am also getting ready for fall/winter today. We built a new kennel for the dogs, hoping to keep cougars out and dogs in. We finished putting it all together yesterday (I don't have pictures yet!). So, today I cleaned the dog house out (got all the old straw out) and put in a new dog bed. Hopefully the half-dog won't decide she needs to chew it up. I am really hoping we're passed that stage. Time will tell!

Well, on to choosing a background for the blog...

Day 1

Well, since I am not sure what the heck I am doing yet with this blog, there won't be any pretty pictures or any major insights. That is yet to come...stay tuned.
